Centre for Cell Manufacturing
The Centre for Cell Manufacturing Ireland (CCMI) was established as part of the Regenerative Medicine Institute (REMEDI) translational mission to manufacture human Mesenchymal Stem Cells (hMSC's) for use in clinical trials. This vision has now become a reality with the approval for the first clinical trial to commence using cells manufactured in the CCMI.
The Health products Regulatory Authority (HPRA), gave their approval in 2014 for a Critical Limb Ischemia Clinical Trial to commence at the Clinical research facility in Galway under Professors Timothy O'Brien (University of Galway) and Stewart Walsh (University of Limerick). The trail enrolled nine patients.
